Leo Wyn 5th in Derby Consolation

LEO WYNN (DK) put in a strong performance in the Derby Consolation at Lunden, finishing fifth after a major gallop on the backstretch.

Leo Wynn raced at the back of the field, tracking Labour Spring, while Lanson set the pace throughout and won quite easily under Jörgen Sjunnesson in a time of 1:13.8a/2000 meters.

On the backstretch with about 650 meters remaining, Leo Wynn suddenly broke into a gallop, but Jeppe Juel managed to get the horse back into a trot, and Leo Wynn finished strongly along the inside rail to take fifth place (8,000 kroner) in 14.6.

Derby Day kicked off with a victory for the 2-year-old Nassir Dust (DK), son of our American broodmare Crysti Dream.

Nassir Dust—bred and still owned by Thomas Lind-Holm—is trained by Paul Hagoort and was driven to victory by Robin Bakker in a time of 1:14.8a/2000 meters, just three-tenths of a second off Menza’s Danish record.

Crysti Dream did not produce a foal this year but is currently in foal to Captain Corey. In addition to Nassir Dust, she is the dam of horses such as Diabolic Hill (1:09.7a – $724,417) and the yearling Bruce Wynn (a colt by King Of The North), who was recently sold at the Selected Sales Copenhagen Yearling Sale for €75,000 to Nassir Dust’s trainer, Paul Hagoort.
